BLAENAU GWENT AIR RIFLE CLUB
CONSTITUTION
AIMS:
BGARC has been formed to encourage and promote and support the sport of air rifle and pistol shooting. Including field target shooting and non formal shooting.
MEMBERSHIP:
Membership is open to anybody who wishes to participate safely, regardless of race, gender, religion or community identity.
Junior membership is possible, in line with NSRA child protection policy. Junior members (9 years old minimum) must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult (parent etc).
CLUB FEES:
Membership runs from 1st JANUARY – 31st DECEMBER however, members are asked to pay to renew ongoing membership before 1st DECEMBER so that paperwork and insurance can be acquired on time. At the moment the fee is £40:00 but subject to change. Failure to pay said fees will result in membership withdrawal.
AFFILIATIONS:
B.G.A.R.C. Is affiliated to; BFTA British field target association; WAFTA welsh airgun and field target association; NSRA national smallbore rifle association.
INSURANCE:
Club insurance is provided through the NSRA in line with our affiliated bodies.
DISCRIMINATION:
Discrimination will NOT be tolerated (racial, sexual, religious etc).
ADMINISTRATION:
The club is administered through a committee, which consists of Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and event organiser. Extra persons may be co-opted onto the committee, to deal with club projects.
SAFETY:
As in all shooting sports, SAFETY is paramount. Guns are to be handled in a safe manner at all times. In NO circumstances is any gun (empty or loaded) to be pointed at another person. When moving around the grounds, guns are to be unloaded and carried vertically (pointed up or down), or in a gun case or slip. Guns must only be raised or fired over the designated shooting lanes, from the firing line. Infringements of basic safety rules can lead to disciplinary action. ONLY sub 12ft/lb rifles and sub 6ft/lb pistols can be used at this club.
CONDUCT:
All club members are expected to conduct themselves in a dignified and helpful manner to all persons. Aggressive and abusive behaviour will not be tolerated. Items of a derogatory nature that may reflect badly on the club or any individuals should NOT in any circumstances be posted to any social media or online in general. The club may take disciplinary action to any members found doing so.
DISABILITIES:
Due to the nature of this sport and the terrain of the grounds, it isn’t possible to 100% cater for all disabilities, However at B.G.A.R.C. we can and do encourage people less able to enjoy shooting and we aim to assist whenever possible.
CHILD PROTECTION:
B.G.A.R.C. accepts and abides by the child protection policy of NSRA.
DISCIPLINARY POLICY:
It is hoped that members conduct themselves in line with the requirements of this constitution, in regards to safety and conduct of a shooter. Infringements of this constitution will lead to action taken by the club committee against said individual/s.
The first instance may be dealt with verbally by a committee member, i.e. reminder of members responsibilities to the club and constitution. This can be kept as record.
More serious infringements will be escalated to an official letter being sent to the accused member/s. this will require the afor mentioned to contact the committee within 21 days to arrange a mutually convenient day, where they will appear in front of the committee to explain ,clarify or justify their actions.
B.G.A.R.C. reserves the right to expel any person/s accused of infringement of the rules of said club.
GROUNDS ACCESS:
Paid up members are entrusted with a key to gain access to the grounds 365 days per year (except leap years 366 days).
Access is only granted for daylight hours, NO night shooting permitted.
Members are reminded that any paper card wood etc targets used must be disposed of properly.
Please take your rubbish home.

BY-LAWS
- 1. The club grounds are open every day to members, however the committee reserve the right to close the grounds to prevent damage in inclement weather, safety reasons or legal reasons (if ordered to)
- 2. When entering or leaving the club grounds, the gate must be closed behind you, taking care for pedestrians or cyclists may be crossing your path. If you are last to leave, you MUST lock the gate.
- 3. Under no circumstances shall any vermin or game be shot on these grounds, by term of our lease.
- 4. Please park your vehicle in a sensible place, to avoid damage to grassy areas whenever possible.
- 5. Remove all your litter/zero cards/paper targets.
- 6. If when entering the grounds, you find damage/vandalism to club grounds property or equipment, it is every members responsibility to inform a member of the committee, so action can be taken.
- 7. Good care must be taken of all club equipment/property. This is a valuable resource for all.
- 8. ALL members are to act in a responsible and safe manner at all times.
- 9. All visitor are to be treated in a helpful and courteous manner.
- 10. Membership enquiries should be referred to the committee.
- 11. One whistle blast to stop shooting, gun must be emptied and lowered.
- 12. Two whistle blasts, you may raise your gun and carry on shooting.
- PLEASE BE SURE TO BLOW WHISTLE LOUD ENOUGH FOR EVERYONE TO HEAR, TO AVOID ACCIDENTS.
